An in-depth look at the Bugera V22 Infinium Combo Amp

The V22’s 12AX7 preamp tubes offer a wide range of flexibility, delivering a very authentic and vintage-sounding tone, irrespective of whether you’re fingerpicking or rocking out to a classic rock tune full of power chords and guitar solos. The EL84s enable you to push the envelope in regards to what you can achieve with this amp.

Fortunately, the Infinium Tube Life Multiplier technology that Bugera equips this amp with, extends the lifespan of your tubes. This feature is something that we’re absolutely loving. We’ve all experienced worn out tubes…which, in turn, means spending a lot of hard-earned cash on repairs and new amps. This ingenious technology controls the ‘stress’ that each tube experiences, monitoring, and distributing the load along the way. You can also anticipate and prevent problematic issues, thanks to the LED readout that allows you to monitor your amp’s health.

Additionally, this all-rounder features a 2-channel preamp which enables you to switch from the clean to the high-gain channel and vice versa in no time. Furthermore, there’s a handy 3-band EQ, with separate controllers for the bass, mid, and treble, as well as a specialised presence controller. What’s more – you can continue to optimise your sound thanks to the normal and bright inputs, which are specifically designed to empower the user to experiment with his/her guitar’s tonal characteristics.

Packed with tubes, the T50 is aimed at those who simply love an all-tube tone. We’re also crazy about the fact that you can switch between the two operations, entitled Class A  and Class AB. Overview

The brand markets the BC15 as an all-vintage amp at “yesterday’s prices”. Mind you; its price IS very appealing. However, does it measure up to other amps in the same price range?

The BC15 is a 15-watt hybrid combo guitar amp that delivers the signature Bugera vintage tone. It’s also super portable, meaning that you don’t need to lug around a massive amp to get that high-quality tone you’ve always wanted.

An in-depth look at the Bugera BC15 Tube Combo Amp

This little beast has a 2-channel preamp with dedicated gain switches, allowing you to tweak your tone to your liking. In spite of its small size, we’re a fan of the straightforward bass and treble knobs that further enable you to experiment with your tone.

Its aesthetic pays homage to the golden era, but it’s good to note that this vintage-inspired mini amp is also brimming with advanced technological options. The CD input comes in handy when you’re practising and songwriting (even though CDs are not commonly used anymore! Maybe it’s time for an upgrade?). Furthermore, the headphone output is ideal for those of us who are convicted night owls.

Overview

What makes the V55 special? It’s the fact that Bugera managed to create a 55W all-tube amp in the sub-500 euro price range…a commendable feat. Thanks to the three 12AX7 multi-gain preamp tubes, and the two 6V6 tubes that control the output, this 2-channel amp delivers the vintage sound and style that’s inherently Bugera. On top of that, it’s got other features which make it a gig-friendly amp, such as the inbuilt reverb, a Made in Britain Turbosound speaker, as well as the tube life multiplier technology that everyone simply loves.

An in-depth look at the Bugera V55 Infinium Tube Guitar Combo Amp

The Bugera V55 Infinium has gig-ready specs that are highly praiseworthy. These include the dedicated controllers that enable your tone to reach its full potential, the normal and bright inputs that complement your guitar’s particular sound, as well as the in-built reverb that facilitates a layered performance.

Furthermore, this Bugera combo amp is furnished with a Pentode/Triode Mode that essentially enables you to lower the output power by half, which is super handy if you want to drive the amp at lower volume levels. On its most basic level, the Pentode/Triode Mode switch changes the tube configuration in order to achieve this reduction in power and volume. In addition to this, Bugera enhanced frequency definition by using a 12’’ speaker, allowing the lower frequencies to be more defined. Pretty impressive for its affordable price!

This guitar tube amplifier stands out from the crowd due to its unparalleled versatility and the multiplier technology that guarantees a reliable and consistent tone for years to come.

On the downside, some V55 owners commented that they were not too crazy about the tone generated by the amp’s generic tubes, and had to switch tubes to achieve a better, high-gain tone.

Bugera 6262 Infinium Tube Head

bugera 6262

Specs

Amp Type: Tube

Channels: 2

Power: 120 W

In-built effects?: Yes, includes reverb

EQ: 3-band

Speaker: Turbosound Size: 1 X 12″

Dimensions: 17.8’’ X 22.5’’ X 10.6’’

Weight: 19 KG

Overview

The 6262 Infinium Tube Head was designed with traditional 80s rock and metal in mind. The clean/crunch and lead channels were carefully crafted to achieve the signature tone of the 80s, but not without a technological update. This tube head is equipped with individual EQ sections, master reverb and presence knobs for each channel, as well as high and low gain inputs (per channel!). Furthermore, the direct out and specific controls make this baby arena-ready.

An in-depth look at the Bugera 6262 Infinium Tube Head

This amp is based on the legendary Peavey 6505+ and comes with the 6505+’s basic features. It’s got six 12AX7 preamp tubes and four 6L6 power tubes. Furthermore, the 6262 comes fully furnished with an FX loop, in-built reverb and presence controllers for EACH channel. It also has a line output that allows you to connect this baby to a PA or other mixer – making it a highly giggable amp.

While it has similar tonal characteristics to the 6505+, it lacks its signature punch and we noted that it sounds slightly less compressed. However, the differences between them CAN definitely be ignored since they’re not mega significant.

The two channels enable the player to switch from the sparkly clean channel (with an additional bright switch) to the monstrous lead channel that is aimed to inspire moshpits.

The Infinium model is a must since it’s equipped with Bugera’s multiplier technology. Unfortunately, the non-infinium model is failure-prone, so it’s worth buying the updated version to prevent any unnecessary hassles. This is one of the best tube guitar heads that you can ever own. Also, if you’re keen on a harsh metal tone, this amp might be the one!

Conclusion

These eight creditable amps allow the user to craft a vintage tone at an affordable price. All of these amps are highly versatile since they feature specific controllers that enable the user to finetune his/her tone to the max. Furthermore, most of them include special features, such as a decent inbuilt-reverb, that, in our opinion, adds a nice and polished touch to any guitarist’s sound.

We see the value in Bugera’s Infinium technology. We’ve all had a tonne of problems with faulty tubes and disastrous performances because of this issue. Therefore, we highly appreciate the fact that Bugera has managed to design an innovative solution that optimises the output tubes’ performance without sacrificing the tone.

Another feature which will most definitely please any tube aficionado is the fact that you can mix and match tubes according to your liking, enabling you to craft your very own signature sound (very neat!). Additionally, the LED readout empowers the user to check the tubes’ health before any disasters happen. Super tidy, right?

Our top picks would most definitely be the Bugera BC15 Tube Combo Amp and the Bugera G5 Infinium Class-A Tube Head. These two options are incredible for those of us who love touring and gigging. The guitarists’ in our team have all had a huge problem with finding a small, portable amp that can still shake the room. The BC15 and the G5 are versatile amps that are ideal for small venues and rehearsal spaces.

We love the Bugera BC15 since, here at Alphabeatic, we’re all fans of mini amps. I mean, who doesn’t love a small amp that you can carry around without the need to own a car? We tried it out with a chorus, delay and reverb, and it sounded perfect! It incorporates some level of tone control too – allowing you to switch from a clean and crisp tone to a toastier and grungier sound without the need to purchase any pedals. The individual gain and master volumes allow you to rock out on your own when you’re practising, while still keeping the volume at a respectable level that won’t get the police knocking on your door. We also highly appreciate the inclusion of the headphone output, which further enhances its versatility.

The Bugera G5 Infinium Tube Head is a budget-friendly, 5-watt head option that has a classic push/pull Class A design that we absolutely love. Furthermore, the straightforward EQ controllers enable you to shift between American and British EQs, making it a super versatile head. Furthermore, it also benefits from Bugera’s Infinium technology which aims to maximise tube life.

All in all, whether you’re a valve newbie who’s ready to dive into the world of tube amps or a tube lover who had a lot of technical issues in the past, these Bugera amps have a lot of beneficial and valuable features to offer.
